Casual Postdoc Afternoon Meet-up

Get out of the lab and take this opportunity to have a chat with your peers from across campus in a casual and friendly atmosphere. As always - all teaching- and/or research post-docs from all schools are welcome to attend.

There is no need to book. Simply turn up at the ARTS Piazza Cafe next Tuesday, April 9 at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Postdoc Lunchtime Meet-up

The autumn term has been going for a few weeks already and everyone is probably really busy with doing research or teaching our wonderful students. Here's an opportunity for you to get out of the lab or the lecture theatre for a break and have a friendly chat with your peers over a cuppa.

If you are interested, simply come to the the ARTS Piazza Cafe  next Wednesday, November 12 at noon, bring your lunch, and take the opportunity to have a friendly chat with your peers from across campus.

We're going to be either outside or inside, depending on the weather.

Get Psyched! Psychology Research Staff Showcase

Wednesday, 23 May, Conference Centre at the ÈÕº«ÎÞÂë, 13:00 - 17:00.

This event is organised by the Psychology Postdoc Network and provides an excellent opportunity for researchers to showcase their work in a 7-minute TED-style talk to a broad (University-wide and public) audience. The application deadline is 5 pm, May 1st.  Early submissions are encouraged.

Up to 15 speakers will be selected to present their research on any of a diverse range of topics in Psychology and Neuroscience. Talks will be 7 minutes with a maximum of 3 slides (props optional), designed for a non-specialist audience, followed by a 3 minute question period.        

Postdoc Labour Day Lunchtime Meet-up

Postdocs around the University - unite! Come out of your labs and meet your peers on labour day. We're meeting at the ARTS Piazza Cafe  on Tuesday, May 1, 13:30pm. Bring your lunch, and take the opportunity to come together and have a chat with your peers from across campus, exchange ideas, talk about current issues, and enjoy the company of other human beings. If you don't want to bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks can also be purchased at the cafe.

Unless the weather fails to permit, we're going to be outside (side facing the library).

Informatics research demos and exhibits

This event is open to postdocs from all Sussex schools, so please do come along if you have time.
Please note that this is not an exclusive PDN event but jointly happening with a visit of Wired Sussex' Fusebox to Informatics.

Postdoc Agenda-Setting Meeting

Whether you are a researcher or teaching fellow, the postdoc network is there for you. We are independent such that our agenda is not set by the University but directly by our members. Any Sussex Postdoc may come along to our meetings and have their voice heard. On November 16, we will talk about the topics and activities that our community finds currently most relevant and then make a plan for organising and funding specific activities for the coming year.

Postdoc Network Summer BBQ

Let's celebrate the summer and join us for a barbecue at the end of July. This will be the last opportunity in the current academic year to meet your fellow postdocs in an informal environment and discuss current issues of interest.

Since we have a limited budget, BBQ food, salad, and drinks will be provided but only as long as supplies last. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Cross-School Scientific Speed-Dating

Are you research-active and looking for somebody to collaborate with? Or just want to explore what opportunities may be out there?

Meet your fellow post-docs from different University schools and departments and pitch your ideas to them, or alternatively just listen to what they have to offer. Who knows what wonderful opportunities might come out of this?

Lunch will be provided. There is a limit of 50 participants for this event.
