Political Ecology and Environmental Justice

This module introduces the concepts of environmental justice and political ecology, examining:

  • theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding the relationship between environmental change and social (in)justice
  • the role of political ecology as a public-facing discipline engaging with activism and social movements.

The module is structured into three sections:

  • Weeks 1-3: theoretical insights of political ecology and environmental justice
  • Weeks 4-5: workshops on communication techniques and groupwork on student assessments
  • Weeks 6-9: case studies and guest speakers discussing current political ecological concerns.
