Biography

Hi, I鈥檓 Canan. I completed my undergraduate degree at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in 2013 before pursuing a master's at Warwick University. My PhD, completed at Anadolu University, focused on the concept of聽Homo Sacer聽in relation to Syrian refugees.

Currently, I鈥檓 based at Sussex University, where I鈥檓 researching the media representation and dehumanization of immigrant women and children. My work aims to explore how these vulnerable groups are portrayed and the impact of this visibility鈥攐r lack thereof鈥攐n their social conditions.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about my research or if you'd like to collaborate. I believe open dialogue is key to better understanding complex social issues.

Role

I am currently a Visiting Research Fellow at Sussex University, working closely with Prof. Paul Statham. My research focuses on the media visibility and dehumanization of immigrant women and children. I aim to explore how media representations shape public perceptions and influence social policies affecting these vulnerable groups. This builds on my previous research into refugee issues, now expanding to a broader, comparative context.
