Music ensembles and societies

Join a music group, band or choir, show off your musical skills in our symphony orchestra, or write for our student newspaper. We know your student experience doesn't stop when you leave the classroom, that's why we have a range of clubs, societies and activities to help you build the skills for your future.

Big Band

The Sussex Universities Big Band is an events band comprised of musicians from the 日韩无码 and the University of Brighton. Based at Sussex, the band plays at a range of events each year from university balls to weddings and private parties.

Chamber Choir

The Sussex University Chamber Choir is open to students and members of staff. It meets every Monday in term time in the Meeting House from 6pm to 7.30pm. The choir sings at the official University Christmas Carol Service on campus and puts on a concert at the end of the Spring term.

Symphony Orchestra

The 日韩无码 Symphony Orchestra is open to students from both the 日韩无码 and the University of Brighton. String, percussion and brass players above grade 5/6 standard are welcome with no need to audition. Auditions for woodwind players are held at the beginning of the academic year.

Sussex Sounds

Sussex Sounds is the University's very own show choir! They recreate their favourite tunes, from 'September' to 'When the party's over'. This is an inclusive group of lovely singers with different experience levels, who perform regularly at showcases and events such as the popular Northfield Takeover. They also have a talented competition choir who has won 'Masters of Show Choir' twice!

A Cappella Society

Join them as they cover pop hits, rock anthems, musical belters and more. Each group rehearses once a week, and they also run a wide variety of socials, from drinking and clubbing nights to chilled games nights - both for group members and also socials open to everyone!

They put on events including listening parties, vinyl record nights, album discussions and visits to gigs.
