15 credits, Level 5

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll examine how political ideas are communicated and how this shapes the possibilities and constraints of political action. You’ll explore communication as an active and contentious process that takes place both in everyday life and traditional political settings.

Key topics include:

  • how political messages are crafted and communicated
  • the ways messages are repurposed and subverted
  • the influence of a rapidly changing political and technological environment.

You’ll analyse a wide range of primary sources, including speeches, news reports, TV shows, and memes, to understand the dynamics of political communication.
