Autumn and spring teaching

The aim of this module is to give you direct experience of carrying out a small scale research project from the initial stages of design to the final stages of presenting your findings. It's intended to help you consolidate and build upon the knowledge base you gained from the research methods modules in the second year, as you will use these skills to research a topic of your choice. You'll be assessed on how well you interpret and apply the relevant methodological issues to your research design, manage the practical side of the project, address ethical issues, and reflect on the effectiveness of your chosen strategies.

 

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 600 hours of work. This breaks down into about 27 hours of contact time and about 573 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
